Emiliano Grillo is one of South America's most recognized golfers, with a career spanning both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour. After a successful amateur career, the Argentinian turned professional in 2011, where the continued to progress. Get to know him a little bit better here.

1. Emiliano Grillo was born on 14 September 1992 in Resistencia, Argentina.
2. He first began playing the game at the age of just five. He also played basketball as a youngster.
3. When he was 16, Grillo left Argentina to attend the IMG Academy for golf.
4. In 2008, he was a quarter-finalist at the US Junior Amateur.
5. The year after, he was a recipient of the Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Award.
6. His is one of the famed "Class of 2011," turning professional that year, leaving behind an amteur career that included competing alongside future stars including Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Daniel Berger, Xander Schauffele and Ollie Schniederjans.

7. After turning professional, he earned playing status on the European Tour via Q-school. He finished 10th in his first event, the 2012 Africa Open.
8. He represented Argentina in the 2013 World Cup, the 2016 Olympics and the 2017 Presidents Cup.
9. In 2015, Grillo secured his PGA Tour card. Amazingly, the Argentinian won on his official PGA Tour debut, beating Kevin Na on the second playoff hole at the 2015 Frys.com Open.
10. Since gaining his Tour card, Grillo has ranked in the top 100 of the FedEx Cup standings year-on-year.
11. He is sponsored by Callaway and Puma and uses a full bag of Callaway, except his Odyssey putter.
12. Grillo won the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge for his first title in nearly eight years.
13. Later that year, he carded his highest finish at a Major - T6 at The Open.
14. His passions include fishing, basketball and soccer. In the latter sport, he supports River Plate.
15. He is dating Alexia Garcia Morris.

Matt joined Golf Monthly in February 2021 covering weekend news, before also transitioning to equipment and testing. After freelancing for Golf Monthly and The PGA for 18 months, he was offered a full-time position at the company in October 2022 and continues to cover weekend news and social media, as well as help look after Golf Monthly’s many buyers’ guides and equipment reviews.
Taking up the game when he was just seven years of age, Matt made it into his county squad just a year later and continues to play the game at a high standard, with a handicap of around 2-4. To date, his best round came in 2016, where he shot a six-under-par 66 having been seven-under through nine holes. He currently plays at Witney Lakes in Oxfordshire and his favourite player is Rory McIlroy, despite nearly being struck by his second shot at the 17th during the 2015 BMW PGA Championship.
